With busy schedules and jam-packed gardens, plants have to do double duty if they’re going to fit into modern lives. We aren’t just growing a vegetable or flower garden anymore. Now gardens have multiple purposes like supporting pollinators, engaging children in the garden, providing the supplies to create your own beauty products, or decorating your plate with edible flowers and ornamental vegetables. So why not create a themed garden with plants that do serve that dual purpose?
Create a Pollinator Friendly Garden
With the decline in bee and pollinator populations, many people are wondering what they can do in their home gardens to help. Use plants that support pollinators and create a safe haven for them right in your backyard. Plant annual flowers like Sparkler Blush cleome, Profusion Double Hot Cherry zinnias, Summer Jewel Lavender salvia, and Asian Garden celosia in the garden beds or even in a patio container if you only have a small space to give to them. Adding a beneficial bug hotel to your garden space benefits you and helpful bug populations. A bug hotel gives beneficial insects a place to nest and breed, which also means they are more likely create a patrol in your garden, pollinating plants while also controlling pest populations. The Patio Pollinator Garden kit comes with six packets of annual flowers that are proven to perform well in containers, attract pollinators like nothing else, and they are all AAS winners! This kit comes with everything you need to attract pollinators to your garden, including a stylish beneficial bughouse.

The Garden Therapy Seed Collection, Exclusively at GardenTrends
Getting creative in the garden is what I do every day over on my blog, Garden Therapy. I want to show readers how creative gardening can be in order to re-engage them in the garden and attract younger generations. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet like-minded gardeners from GardenTrends last year at the California Spring Trials when I was a guest of National Garden Bureau and their members. Since then, we took this idea of themed gardens and created a series of eight themed DIY garden kits as part of the garden therapy seed collection. Each kit has hand-selected seeds that have vigorously gone through trials and are proven to be successful. We’ve lovingly curated the seeds and included some fun bonus items to bring these theme gardens as a complete kit so you can grow something interesting and unique this year!
