Show Off Your “Year Of” Crops in a Special Garden Exhibit
National Garden Bureau (NGB) has, since 1980, produced a “Year of” program to educate and inspire home gardeners to grow highlighted crop classes. After hearing from some of our public garden friends who use this program to create special exhibits, we had a brainstorm! We want to offer all public gardens the chance to highlight the “Year of” crop classes so we have developed a special exhibit opportunity complete with educational aids, signage, informational materials and more. Some gardens may consider this a secondary type exhibit, others may wish to make it a primary feature.
Public Gardens are uniquely positioned to inform garden visitors about both new and old plant varieties. In fact, that falls under the mission of many gardens. Traveling exhibits are a great way to keep things fresh and attract new visitors, which keeps the visitors coming. National Garden Bureau has created an a la carte menu of ideas and options that public gardens can use to highlight one or more of each nationally promoted “Year of” crop class.
