Create a Garden Color Combination to Show Your Support!
Do you have a high school or college graduation party coming soon?
Is your baseball team starting out the year with a great record and do you want to show your support?
Or are you an all-around passionate fan who wants to show your team color in the garden?
If you are any of the above, a combination garden container is a perfect way to show your support for your favorite team or institution.
Red and White for the sun
This red and white combination for a sunny spot suggests ideal varieties that stay strong during the Summer, from the delicate, orchid-like blooms of the Angelonia to the Geranium’s bold red flower heads. You can choose to include the yellow lantana or omit it for a pure red and white combo.
Red and white for the shade
The silver color of the Dichondra trails and plays off the hues in metallic Gryphon. The red New Guinea impatiens plays off the stem and leaf under-sides of Gryphon, too. Adding white New Guinea impatiens makes all the colors come alive for a fantastic shade container.
Purple and white for Spring and Fall
The vivid purple color of the Pansies in this container is the focal point that really complements the other plants. But you don’t have to be limited to purple – Pansies come in so many bright colors, you can have your pick! Once the weather starts to heat up, you may notice the Pansies and Alyssum beginning to wilt, so you can plan to re-plant more Pansies in Autumn for the football season.
Orange for all season color
Although this is a warm-season container and only shows orange, these plants will also withstand the cooler temperatures of early Spring and Autumn. Place in a spot where it will receive some morning sun and afternoon shade. If you wish to add black, a dark-hued sweet potato vine will add the color you wish. If your team is orange and white, add a white New Guinea impatien!
Yellow and Green for Sun
What can be easier than simple yellow coreopsis (Year of the Coreopsis) and its foliage to boost your team’s yellow and green color scheme?
Orange and Black
Callibrachoas come in all colors and in this case, CanCan Dark Purple (we will let you call it black!) mixes well with a bright orange French Marigold and warm tones of the Coleus. This combo likes it hot so we hope your team is up for the challenge!
